"The plain and simple truth is that any given individual's experience at NEB will depend primarily on whom he/she works for. Some employees seem quite happy because they were lucky to get a good boss, while others are totally miserable because they work for an incompetent manager who got the position without deserving it, either through personal connections or by sheer permanence, even in the face of severe technical limitations. Unfortunately, the company was never a meritocracy and, as another reviewer previously pointed out, that has resulted in many upper management positions currently being occupied by unqualified and/or ineffective, albeit generously overpaid, supervisors. The fact that most employees remain there forever, just for the hefty paycheck, also offers very limited opportunities for career development and personal growth. Quite understandably, all that has a negative effect on employee motivation and productivity, creating an atmosphere of apathy and low engagement. Employee morale seems to be quite low right, in large part due to the perception that the overall direction of the company is unclear and very likely subject to many arbitrary and unpredictable changes in the near future."
