"Expect an odd interview process more akin to academia than industry and get everything in your offer in writing."

What don't you like about working at New England Biolabs?

"The vast majority of the senior management have worked there their entire lives and have little comparative experience or knowledge of how things are done elsewhere. There is a serious lack of leadership and vision. The outrageous compensation makes it fiscally impossible to leave once you've been there a while, which means there are a lot of unhappy people with little motivation."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Take management training seriously, send prospective managers away for formal education, hire more outsiders are senior levels, learn to balance risk, value innovation more, and take business professionalism more seriously."
