40 Drivers from MV Transportation submitted salaries.
Current CEO: Kevin Jones
Status: Active
MV Transportation, Inc. is a Fairfield, California based supplier of transportation for mobility challenged customers. They also provide conventional bus service. The company was founded in 1975 by Feysan and Alex Lodde and incorporated in 1978 as California MediVan.
They are privately owned and the largest operation of its kind in the United States. The company contracts with government agencies of all type and all levels to provide assisted public transit services to those for whom private transportation or traditional mass transit is not a viable option. The company operates over 7000 specially equipped vehicles in the pursuit of its mission, employs over 10,000 people, and operates in 26 of the contiguous United States, Washington D.C., as well as providing service in Anchorage, Alaska and Vancouver, British Columbia.
Given the size and scope of the operation, working at MV Transportation offers a wide range of positions for full-time, part-time, independent contractors, seasonal, daily and franchise employees.
Everything from accounting to facilities, human resources, purchasing and maintenance positions are offered by MV Transportation careers. The greatest need, of course, is for drivers to provide transportation and boarding/exit assistance for MV’s customers. Management positions are also in great demand. California, Illinois, Maryland, Texas and New York, in that order, typically have the most openings, due to the large populations of those states.
The MV Transportation culture places a high value on corporate responsibility, inspiring their employees, treating customers with respect and dignity, and being involved in the communities that they serve. They are active in such programs as Habitat for Humanity. They provided transportation for victims and recovery volunteers involved with Hurricane Katrina. They have also made many contributions to organizations that help the less fortunate.
People who acknowledge that those who are challenged by mobility issues are still human beings and deserve to have the same ability to conduct their lives that normally-abled individuals enjoy will fit in well with the MV Transportation concept.
Being a privately held company, MV Transportation benefits are difficult to ascertain. A spokeswoman for the company says that with the recent economic slowdown that led to contracted bus hours being reduced, it became a no-win situation to decide between furloughs and layoffs of the company’s Teamsters union drivers, who do have health insurance and 401(k) plans, or a re-negotiation with the union that would eliminate wages being paid for 40 hours per week even if drivers worked less than that, along with a reduction or elimination of benefits.
CFO is the highest paying job at MV Transportation at $275,000 annually.
