Working at Montgomery County Public Schools in Montgomery, AL: 1 Employee Reviews

Substitute Teacher

"Former Sub, Now Literary Museum Director"

What do you like about working at Montgomery County Public Schools?

"I got out early enough so that I could make my classes on time (I was earning a Bachelor, and later, a Master's in History). Some administrators were excellent while others were dismal at best. If there was an emergency or a conflict with school, I decided whether or not I was going to work that particular day."

What don't you like about working at Montgomery County Public Schools?

"I did not get the required planning periods that the teacher that I was working for that day was scheduled to have (about 30% of the time). I did not get recompensed for this extra work time, so some days I got no break at all."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"1. pay your subs according to their education level.2. offer some health benefits in order to attract better qualified people.3. do not abuse your subs by taking away planning periods of the teachers that they are there for. Your lack of planning to get adequate subs for the day should not mean that I have to suffer - DO YOUR JOB!"
