"My year at Middlebury Interactive Languages was amazing, the product we worked so hard on was excellent. Easy to understand and complete. The office environment was terrific, full of creative and talented people. And because so many of them have been to different parts of the world, there were always interesting cultural topics. I'm really glad I got to work there."
"Terrible experience. Executives have put the company in a downward spiral."
What do you like about working at Middlebury Interactive Languages?
"The immediate team is great. Most of the skilled workers in Provo know what they are doing."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"As much as this May sound like a rant/rave, it is very conservative. Reach out to members of the team you are considering to get their honest opinion (on LinkedIn maybe). The CEO is overly controlling and has an agenda that is not in line with advancing the company or it's products. The executives around her have little power and she will ultimately make the (bad) decisions. It is amazing to me how little executives know about their products. Carefully consider your options if considering MIL for employment."
What don't you like about working at Middlebury Interactive Languages?
"Non-technical/unskilled management/executives are often placed in positions by friends, so there are quite a few unqualified people you end up interacting with fairly regularly. Despite her resume, current CEO has no real language or technology background and is basically just a name (ex-politician) to help land deals. The executives are very good at publicly congratulating themselves for doing meaningless things both in company e-mails and public blogs. The number of inept, unmotivated and really worthless executives and upper management is absolutely staggering. Lots of fat to trim that will never be trimmed."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Employees see incompetence and nepotism in the upper ranks. Start caring about the product, the clients and, most importantly, your employees. Moving operations to Middlebury, Vermont will absolutely be the downfall of this company. Removing the executives holding things back would be a great way to start making this a good place to work and would improve the quality of the product immensely (though the board would likely not make any changes)."
"This was an educational experience in understanding of the contract labor trend."
