What do you like about working at Imerys?

"the people in my work groups were all very competent and good people to be around."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"you need to be a survivor and able to put up with lots of pressure from senior management. know your competencies and how they fit in with the minerals business. always recognize that accounting/finance runs the show at Imerys and everything else is secondary"

What don't you like about working at Imerys?

"they operate in crisis mode 24/7 -- everything is an emergency. and their answer to every problem is to fire people. Directors/VP's seemed to have a lifespan of about 2 years until the French brought in someone who would clean house and bring in their own people. also, the company has no ability to plan for the future. everything focuses around making numbers for the month or the quarter."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"focus on the health of the long-term business. simplify the business processes, especially budgeting. there is no reason to spend 6 months working on the budget, nor is there any reason to start it as early as they do. stop making everything an emergency."
