Louisiana State University is a leading university located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. LSU was founded in 1853 by the Louisiana General Assembly under the name Louisiana State Seminary of Learning and Military Academy. The first session began in 1860. Louisiana State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelors, masters, doctoral, and professional degrees. LSU has an enrollment of 26,000 students.

Louisiana State University is home to Mike VI, a live Bengal Tiger. The mascot lives in a 1,500 square foot habitat and is beloved by students, staff, and visitors. LSU holds 45 athletic national championship titles in many sports including, football, baseball, men’s basketball, and track and field.

Louisiana State University employs a staff of over 5,000 and has over 1500 faculty members. The college provides a Training and Development center for new and current employees, as well as an Employee Relations Center in order to enhance the work environment. LSU provides four different health insurance plans, and provides retirement benefits through Louisiana State Employees Retirement System. Also, the university provides Tuition Reimbursement to its employees. Eligible employees must be employed full-time, and may enroll in up to 6 hours each semester.
