Lord, Abbett & Co. Employee

"Abysmal management. Research was reverse-engineered to agree with the model, and fund performance suffered. Those dedicated to fundamental analysis and rigorous bottoms-up research were pushed out, demoted, marginalized, or wisely left on their own accord. Those who championed this ludicrous approach to investing are now running (or continue to work in) the equity business. The architects of the firm's poor performance, and those responsible for chasing out some of its best investors are now running the equity business. Institutional consultants-those whose job and fiduciary duty it is to evaluate asset managers have overwhelmingly pulled funds from Lord Abbett. The firm's equity business now is a fraction of what it was a decade ago-while the S&P is near record highs. I would suspect that this firm's equity business won't exist in the not too distant future. And that will be a good thing for investors."
