What do you like about working at K. Hovnanian Homes?

"Working for KHOV was a great experience. The pay was great. until I was laid off I thought I was thru looking for a job and was certain I found my career of a lifetime. I miss the whole experience of working for the home buyers and building the communities. I want my job back when the market problems are over. I would recommend KHOV to anybody."

"Tips for others interviewing If they are interviewing I want my chance first."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"tone it down the expectations we would give what they want and still want more. Maybe compliment the efforts more."

"I had a great working experience at KHOV. Sick days, personal days, retirement and health benefits were all wonderful extras. I felt they paid very well. I wish that the housing industry in MI would jump start, and that the company would come back. It was a great place to work."

What don't you like about working at K. Hovnanian Homes?

"They felt MI was a losing battle. A little more time will tell. Maybe they will come back and be more profitable than ever."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Because it was far away from corporate, more assistance to the Sales staff and more direction from management would have been a productive start."

"I WAS EMPLOYED ALONG WITH MY MENTOR FROM ANOTHER US FEDERAL BANKING INSTITUTION. WE SHARED THE SAME WORK ETHIC."

"I DONT KNOW IF THEY ARE STILL IN BUSINESS IN FLORIDA. I BELIEVE THEY MOVED TO ARIZONA."

What don't you like about working at K. Hovnanian Homes?

"THEY WERE UNORGANIZED, LEFT FLORIDA, WERE NOT TOO CONCERNED ABOUT GUIDELINES. SOME OF THE STAFF WERE DISRESPECTFUL."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"TOO MANY TO MENTION HERE."

"I loved my job at KHOV. I wish I as still working there."

What don't you like about working at K. Hovnanian Homes?

"At my initial interview, I was assured that I would not be laid off, and at my 1 year anniversary, I was laid off without a even so much as a warning it was coming. The only reason why I was laid off instead of the other person doing my job for the Southern VA. region was because I was having some medical problems at the time and they did not want to be bothered. That was a real blow to me, and I have not been able to find a job since then."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Take care of the people that REALLY work for you and are loyal to the company. Too much office politics. There were people there, when I was laid off that did absolutely nothing all day and they were kept."

"Well, prior to being laid off after 5 years of tenure, I certainly LOVED the grueling 60-70 hour work weeks, massive amounts of red tape, and the total lack of managerial comprehension with regard to what was done in the field. Other than that, it was business as usual...just like working at any other production builder."

"When the housing market recovers in 3-5 years and hiring begins again, best of luck to those who would seek a job in the trenches again."

What don't you like about working at K. Hovnanian Homes?

"The mantra that Our greatest resource is our Associates. What a crock...do corporations really expect us to drink the Kool-Aid"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Get a clue. The housing meltdown is attributable to a failure in corporate leadership at the highest levels. Greed, pure and simple, is the driving force behind any publicly traded company. Smart business choices and well-thought strategies for growth were all too commonly discarded for short-term decisions that would provide a temporary bump in the stock price."

"Professional and experienced colleagues; exercise independent business judgment; variety of assignments."

"Lack of job security to to downturn in economy. Poor communication from executive management to middle management and from middle management to project managers and hourly workers."

What don't you like about working at K. Hovnanian Homes?

"Lack of opportunity for profsssional growth."

"Improve communication from executive management to division employees."

"There were tremendous growth opportunities and I moved up through the company very quickly and was compensated every step of the way. I enjoyed the challenges and pressures of starting and completing several projects through out my career with Brighton Homes."

What don't you like about working at K. Hovnanian Homes?

"I really didn't have anything I didn't like, it was a very fulfilling and enjoyable job."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Be a little more supportive during the lay-off process; it felt very robotic and was a complete shock to find out it was happening."
