"I've worked for J.D. Power for almost 15 years. I stayed with the company for such a long time because the people were great and we always worked as a team to create wonderful accurate web and print pieces that met the J.D. Power standards. These marketing pieces were done efficiently while meeting deadlines regardless of how tight sometimes they were. It is a global organization that has different offices all over the world. The one in Westlake Village, California holds the graphics department."

"The only concern of management is money. If you are not making a gross amount of profit in your department then be prepared for dumb decision firing and layoffs by the executives. They have a buy not build mentality, even if they had the staff and skills to do the building."

"Most of the people I interacted with on a daily basis were very nice people and generally pleasant to be around."

What don't you like about working at J.D. Power and Associates?

"The hiring model in the research departments seems to be based around hiring the most attractive female college interns and hope that the clients don't actually read the data. Then when they do complain, they just blame the development teams. Research teams can't seem to manage their clients thus causing ridiculous, unwarranted and/or impossible change requests to be processed."

J.D. Power and Associates Employee

"The unique and positive culture at JDPA is dead"

What do you like about working at J.D. Power and Associates?

"Colleagues were great. Local management varied from great to very much not so great.A good tone of quality and responsibility to do things well so as to protect the credibility of the brand name."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"While still a place where young researchers can learn and practice modern research, and still a place that is upbeat and positive (being a pure capitalist doesn't make you a bad guy--necessarily), don't believe the hype about how highly they value each employee. On that aspect of culture/environment, JDPA is no better, nor worse than so many others."

What don't you like about working at J.D. Power and Associates?

"The continuing shift to prioritizing product development and research projects solely on their profit potential reduced the emphasis on creativity and looking for new and useful research topics.Conformity became too highly valued. The vociferous cheerleading from management became ever more disingenuous. Employees' intellectual capital (expertise in specific industries) began to be secondary, even tertiary to profit."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"None. The company has become too big and purely corporate. Whatever unique JDPA culture there was has been effectively submerged. Only Dave Power could have fixed this and he has retired. It is no longer a place for social scientists, only marketing researchers looking to learn and practice mechanical, fill-in-the-blank research."
