"I have had great opportunities and learning experiences. The overall atmosphere feels like fear and that is not what I operate on."

"I worked in the installation part of custom blinds and drapes. I had little to no training. I like the challenge this gave me, but due to the relation ship of my manager I was not given the chance needed to improve on my skills."

"JCP was founded with the Golden Rule not only as it's motto, but it's orginal name. Putting their customers first, has always been JCP's strong hold. With the recent release of the short time CEO, Mr. Johnson and the reinstatement of former CEO, is bringing the company back around and reinstating it's place as not only a great place to shop but a great place to work as well."

"JCP and you a perfect fit Maybe for some. Not for others."

What do you like about working at JC Penney?

"Most people seemed very happy. The pay was more than I had been making, even though I know I was on the low end of most of the people there in my position. There are many classes to take for your personal development, which were fabulous. Everyone really believes in the company, which is helpful for morale."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you are looking at merchandising or planning and allocation, talk to someone in a similar position at the company in the division you are considering. Not all divisions are created equal. Not all divisions are poorly run. Ask hard questions of the HR rep at your lunch interview."

What don't you like about working at JC Penney?

"If something seems to be good to be true, then it probably is. There is a lot of talk about work life balance and personal career development, but not a lot of action to back that up. Constructive feedback was lacking, and politics and egos are tolerated if not championed."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Take a hard look at the company values and make sure your employees actually uphold them. I don't remember finger pointing and bulldozing being on the list."
