What don't you like about working at ITT Corp.?

"1. Lack of experience by management:Unfortunately ITT is a contractor to the DSN, and being relatively new (i.e < 5 years) to the DSN, many of their managers lacked the technical expertise required to facilitate smart decision making. 2. Managing on perception ITT management focused on customer perception rather than looking at the numbers and evaluating if the perception was indeed true. This caused a lot of extra work for employees by managers who really did not know what they were asking people to do. 3. Promotions limitedThe only real way to be promoted at ITT in Monrovia, was to be either:a. From ITT defense headquarters in Colorado Springsb. A latin male.4. Frequently troubled employees, meaning anyone who had a professional opinion diifferent than their manager, were laid off due to reduction in force. Yet new employees would be hired that were some how related to some one in the management level. It one thing to lay off a trouble maker, its another to lay off valuable employee because they have a difference of opinion with their manager."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"1. Promote people who experience working in the DSN to management position instead of promoting from corporate head-quarters. 2. Give some money for some training.3. Don't threaten people's job's because they have a professional assessment that may be different than that of the managers. 4. Identify your employees professional goals and help them achieve them. Don't hold them back because you need them."
