IT Support Technician at Spyder Active Sports
in Boulder, CO

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Spyder Active Sports, Inc, IT Department"

What do you like about working at Spyder Active Sports?

"Fantastic environment, and a great IT team to work with. The CTO, Kevin Smith, is a phenomenal boss whom I have enjoyed working with on a contract basis for years after leaving as a full time employee (due to my own shifting career focus from tech support to software development)."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"It is a great company, for the most part... If I could have migrated to a software development position there (instead of my stagnant position in technical support), I would have stayed."

What don't you like about working at Spyder Active Sports?

"My immediate supervisor, while a great person who means well, inadvertently made my working situation such that I was cut off in large part from more senior management, and so there was very little growth potential for me there."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I think the IT team is very strong there... I just wish I hadn't been told to only talk to upper management through my direct supervisor, as it created a situation where upper management never noticed my efforts, no matter how far I would go above & beyond what would be expected of me."

IT Support Technician at Stevens-Henager College

"Working with people to solve their computer needs."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

What don't you like about working at Stevens-Henager College?

"The job was very part time at best and didn't pay well, but was a great place to work."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"They really should have turned my position into a full time position when I graduated. But whatever."

IT Support Technician at Washington University
in Fredericksburg, VA

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Working both as a lab aide and as a summer IT worker was easy-going and very educational"

What do you like about working at Washington University?

"UMW is an incredibly warm community, so getting to work with its students and professors was always a pleasure. Mixing in with different IT people from various backgrounds in the field was also a plus, and made for fascinating conversation."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"For students: don't do it for extra cash, because you're technically not getting any - do it for the experience and to help out our campus. For professionals: you won't find a friendlier work environment!"

What don't you like about working at Washington University?

"They pay very little to students, and all of what you make is expected to go towards your financial aid. It was also awkward having more than a few supervisors who insisted on things being done the wrong way and who were less educated about IT than even I was at the time!"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Hire more real professionals to guide the students and productivity will soar."
