"The culture required a dramatic change in attitude towards IT. This was both good and bad as it afforded me the opportunity to change the bad perceptions."

"To partner with IT as a source of competitive advantage"

"The company had transformed from a quality product manufacturuer to a finacial instrument and was constantly on the block for sale"

"Too late - the company was aquired by an LBO firm, then taken back public and then re-acquired by another company."

"Some managers are good at company politics and little else"
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Send some of their long time VP/D/C level managers to leadership training they're been around a long time but some have bad interpersonal skills and can be unprofessional and rude"

What do you like about working at Delta Air Lines?
"Very well organized, with a clear vision of purpose: To be the best run profitable airline in the world. This vision was backed up by well thought out business and operations process, a people friendly workplace, and sense of value within everyone who worked there."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Delta has re-invested in modernization and business process in recent years. A good fit for Delta these days is someone with high skills in their particular expertise combined with a motivation to examine current operations along with collaboration with others for continued improvements. Be more than a task master, be a knowledge asset in the business."
What don't you like about working at Delta Air Lines?
"Following financial difficulties and reorganizations in 1994, people became commodities, and the vision became cost control."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Delta along with all other airlines have great challenges. My only suggestion is to return to the paradigm of being an employee friendly place to work. This attribute created a high performance culture in previous years."
