"I've worked onsite at Illumina for over 8 years within the development. The company has a strong leadership group and have always been committed to helping me grow professionally. Illumina has a strong culture and always strive to release the top of the line products and to be at the forefront of new technology."
"Illumina is a great place to work at, many opportunities to grow and overall great environment"
"I have worked at illumine for four and a half years and the opportunities have been endless. I really enjoy the culture and the interactions with the employees, as well as, upper management. I have been able to increase my experience with the level of flexibility given by my management because at the end of the day, they just want to see me exceed. Overall, a great company to get the chance to work for."
"Company has been struggling to move from research to regulated device space. Growing pains are becoming more common alongside unrest among employees. Managers are often not well prepared or even motivated to be in their positions and micro managing from the top is common."
"Great company to work at. Lots of knowledgeable employees and very fast paced."
"Great Company. Great Benefits. Easy Going"
"they put on a good face but the company does not follow up on what they promise"
"It's a growing company with a lot of smart people. However, management's skills are severely lacking. There is a very high level of micromanagement by the project leads."
"Well, it's exactly how people rate it on glassdoor. I should have taken heed of people's input and stayed at my last employer. I can't speak to all regions but the manager in them is a drunken wander that has no business there. He made promise after promise and never came through on anything. Don't fall for it. Do yourself a favor and pass on them. No collaboration and the PhDs treat you like dirt!"
"Illumina sounds like a great place to work. However it is the most dysfunctional company I have ever worked at. No one can make a decision, and when it comes time to make one--they pass the buck. No one takes responsibility for their actions, they are the first to blame someone else."
"It was the most horrible environment I was ever a part of."
What do you like about working at Illumina?
"The team I worked with directly was great. We supported each other as best we could in what was a degrading, political mismanaged horrible workplace"
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Pass this place up. You will be expected to work way beyond full time hours and the reward will only be that you get to keep your job (you may even be told this, regardless of whether you are a good or bad employee). This place treats people like objects, and your career will see no benefit unless you are a political brown noser."
What don't you like about working at Illumina?
"Company is top-heavy run by political hacks with no real skill. Hard work and quality will get you nowhere, and kissing up is the only way to move up here. Zero regard for one's personal life and unethical treatment of employees who are not in executive management or sales."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Revamp the entire structure. You have created a toxic environment that is nothing more than a perversion of what the company once stood for. Your employment base resents you and with good reason. Be accountable for the horrible decisions and negligance that you are directly responsible for. Reign in sales, they are out of control and unbelievably unethical."

What don't you like about working at Illumina?
"lack of work life balance, HR is awful they should clean house with HR, too many sr managers..some directors have 2 managers for 10 people - get rid of that director!, there are too many director and sr manager level positions- it is top heavy!, they don't do annual reviews of management so it sucks and doesn't change! employee voices aren't heard (many complaints about director were ignored and swept under the rug...no actions were taken and team moral took a hit because of awful director in training)"
What suggestions do you have for management?
"take a look at directors there for a free ride who do nothing for their team or the organization just show up so they get stock options but contribute nothing and are hated by their team! luckily there are competent manager to be sure things are done..... and tell him (the director) how to do his job!"
