"I have worked for in home Supportive Services now for the last 15 years off and on, because I'm on call when needed for a new client. The seniors that I have taken care of for their time of life are very appreciative. I'm always asked, what do I do that they always ask for me? I just try to make them feel the way that I would like to be treated. Because one day I will be old too, and would like to be taken care of in the same way."

Working at In-Home Support Services in Modesto, CA: 1 Employee Reviews

Home Health Aide

"This review is very important to help understand and improve recipient and provider needs."

What do you like about working at In-Home Support Services?

"I like being well informed when there is a change with the benefits being received from IHSS. The program also sends out Linkcare newsletters every month with new information and program status along with recognition for star providers. The program also keeps in contact with union members notifying them about specific issues regarding the recipient and provider benefits."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Anyone wanting to work for IHSS needs to be well informed about the problems that the county is having with keeping the program active. The prospective interviewee should also make sure they are ready for the committment that is involved with taking care of one or more recipients. It can be stressful and time consuming."

What don't you like about working at In-Home Support Services?

"The only drawback about working for stanislaus county as an in-home healthcare aide is the constant worry about losing benefits from the program because of the state deficit."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"It would be easier for providers that are taking care of family members if there were more resources to help the recipients get into other programs in stanislaus county. My recipient is facing problems with incompetence. There just doesnt seem to be anything that the county can do for him. I am left trying to meet his needs without the help from the county."
