Working at IDS Real Estate Group in Los Angeles, CA: 2 Employee Reviews

Construction Manager

"Good, conservative real estate firm with an open attitude towards improvements and opportunity."

What do you like about working at IDS Real Estate Group?

"I really appreciated the concept of vertical integration for a real estate development company. The firm would develop its own properties, be a fee developer for other investors, manage properties, offer construction management and project management services, due diligence services, entitlement services, etc. The company's mission is to be the best real estate generalists in the region."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be conservative, prepared, and competent. If you don't have an answer for something, don't make it up. You'll not serve yourself or anyone else well."

What don't you like about working at IDS Real Estate Group?

"The upper echelon of project control resides with Real Estate Managers. The incentive for those REM's is to make real estate deals. Though the senior most managers/owners act as a checks/balances system for the REM's, some deals are meant not to get done. Since the primary compensation for REMs is involved in creating new real estate developments, decisions can be clouded by dollars and due diligence can be manipulated to make certain deals appear better than they really are."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I don't really have much in the line of suggestions. I think that the owners are smart, ethical, and have a good handle on what they do. I would only recommend that some of the lower level employees involved in the gathering of due diligence materials and budgets be asked for their opinions more often. Fewer deals would get done, but most of the ones rejected would simply be too risky for the company's portfolio anyway."

Accounting Clerk

"Adequately described."

What do you like about working at IDS Real Estate Group?

"The people that work here are one of a kind. I've never worked with such smart and geniunely nice people."

What don't you like about working at IDS Real Estate Group?

"The lack of room to grow."
