There is a disconnect between corporate and the sales force. As with all big companies, they only tell you what you want to hear, not what is the reality. Work-life balance is poor at best, I would not recommend this company to any who values their integrity or home life balance."

"If you are a software engineer who wishes to pursue your science effectively, be led by experts in Computer Science and software engineering, work elsewhere."

What don't you like about working at IDEXX?

"The Sr. Leadership team is largely comprised of personnel with little leadership and management value as it pertains to software engineering. Not one of the corprate VP's has an educational background in Computer Science. They view software as something you perform at the last minute. The entire staff of software engineering did not grow for the four years I was present. In the meantime the software base grew 300%. They had no knowledge this was occurring because they have not one metric for software engineering. It is a PITIFUL place to pursue software engineering excellence.The company survives and prospers because it has little competition in the Veterinary market."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"One day the Chinese or other competitive entity will figure out that they can easily take away $100mm (10%) of the IDEXX $1.2b revenue. On THAT day Idexx will start to unravel and ultimately disappear from the competitive venue.Patents will protect you from those who honor them, there ARE entire countries where patents mean little when it comes to the competitive scene."
