What do you like about working at Home Depot?

"What I like most is how the environment in which we work in is very fast-paced, and both management skill and merchandising skills are placed to the max."

What don't you like about working at Home Depot?

"What I don't like is that most of the time the environment is very negative from stressed associates, because they are helping up to 10 customers at a time while trying to maintain their departments and answer to multiple calls during the day. Most of our customers are angry prior to entering the store because something in their home is broken. Even though I have been able to maintain morale, it is very exhausting and I've seen it affecting my family, and to me, family comes first."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Most managers take their position the wrong way. My main suggestion is that they must learn how to be a good example to their associates. Many managers delegate and disappear for hours. The managers who get results delegate and work on other things themselves, making them approachable and leading by example. Now, of course they are responsible for other duties, such as operations, so obviously they can't be involved in big projects the entire time. Yet, they must remember that their associates deal with a great deal of job loads and pressure, both physically and mentally, so some need to be a little bit more considerate."
