"Working for the state is a very stable and secure environment but also extremely rigid and politically correct. It is hard to mesh the atmosphere of a liberal Austin, TX with the mindset of the formal state government. Overall, great pay, great benefits, friendly co-workers, incompetent management. Gotta fill out the form to get the form."

"Good to be as part of Deloitte (HHSC). Nothing much to learn here in Deloitte. Everything is automated and want to learn more by changing the job."

"If you don't have any experience it is a good place to start."

What don't you like about working at Health and Human Services Commission?

"Career progression was very limited. It is a state agency so once you were in an IT position you were there to stay."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"None. Management came and went as I supported infrastructure as well as positions of political standing. Sometimes I would only have a boss for 3 months before they sought other political offices, or started their own business."
