Hardware Design Engineer at Sun Microsystems

What do you like about working at Sun Microsystems?

"Sun Labs was a great place to work with some of the best minds in the industry. This wasn't a pie-in-the-sky operation like other research labs, they developed near term product applicable technologies."

"CNXT employment"

What do you like about working at Mindspeed Technologies?

"Great working conditions with plenty of resources, and a highly professional environment."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Do not count on any longevity, but not a bad place to work. Hiding slackers will be there forever, and devoted hard workers with high visibility rarely survive for any great length of time."

What don't you like about working at Mindspeed Technologies?

"Long hours, little or no recognition or appreciation of dedicated technical experts. Slackers are commonplace and highly rewarded for being non-productive, and therefore cannot be blamed for causing any problems, and never recognize, solve, or report any problems either. Managers are not held accountable for results, good or bad. Their expertise is rarely associated with their technical area of management as well."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Each manager from upper to lower levels should be held accountable for measured success of their subordinates. Properly scheduled and tracked commitments should be achieved within a few weeks of deadlines at worst, not years. Managers that push dates further out on a weekly basis (for years) should not be rewarded with regular promotions, bonuses, and the many other perks that they typically receive. In otherwords, failures should be recognized, and successes should be rewarded."
