Green Bay Packaging Employee

"You will be lie to in the interview about it family oriented business and "not much overtime." You can be called in before your shift starts, and made to stay over up to the last minute of your shift. They will take advantage of good workers and let the lazy ones slide by. It is not uncommon to work 5 12 hr days and Saturday, for more than 4 wks straight. Managers and employees gossip about each other openly, breeding an unprofessional atmosphere. Company does not follow own policies, and will use their right to deviate from the contract as often as they can. Machine incentives are out dated and uneven. Respect is not something that you will receive at this company. The union is useless, and will not support employees, and the international guy said directly that despite the heaps of OT, you are expected to not use your points. The #2 stated that HR looks for reasons to fire people, and if she does not like you she will find any reason to do so- even calling a sore elbow an accident and documenting it to fire you later. She stated that when you sign up you are expected to show up and stay at work when needed, no matter how often or long you have been there already. Machines are not maintained as they should be leading to many headaches that causes DT and more OT. The machine used for shredding scrap is an example of poor maintenance, as the blades don't get changed out as they should and the machine jams up. Which will be added to a list for reasons to fire you later on. They let a sick person known to be exposed to covid stay at work, exposing two others to covid. They will throw you into operating a machine whether you have been trained properly, and are ready or not."

"I've worked for GBP for the last 27 years. It is a great privately owned company with over 30 divisions in 13 states and a small presence in Mexico. The company treats its people well and most people stay here for their entire career."
