What do you like about working at Northwestern University?

"I like the flexible work schedule, the benefits, and camaraderie."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Talk to older (4+ year graduate students) before joining a graduate program. Ask them about what their career plans are. More than likely they will tell you that they are leaving academia. It is unrealistically competitive to become a tenured professor."

What don't you like about working at Northwestern University?

"There's very little direction, I am constantly made to feel like a failure, no one will offer help without there being something in it for them, I don't make enough money."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Meet with students more often, give useful feedback and real suggestions."

What do you like about working at University of Southern California?

"The research environment is great for students. There are various studies to work on and to apply my knowledge gained in classes. My supervisors are very nice people. They stimulated a lot of my research enthusiasms."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"USC is definitely a top graduate school to study and work. The department of preventive medicine is one of the best in US."

What don't you like about working at University of Southern California?

"The main reason to leave the school is that I will graduate next year. Besides, I am looking for more opportunities to work in a new environment for different studies, and new research ideas."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I hope the funding support for graduate students can be increased so that students can focus more on their research projects."

"Academic environment moves slowly and there is little room for growth, unless one's desire is to become a PI."

"Treat a lab more like a business and less like academia."
