"Talk to older (4+ year graduate students) before joining a graduate program. Ask them about what their career plans are. More than likely they will tell you that they are leaving academia. It is unrealistically competitive to become a tenured professor."

"There's very little direction, I am constantly made to feel like a failure, no one will offer help without there being something in it for them, I don't make enough money."
