"The President who tried to run two plants in Lansing and failed. When Gergau Macsteel had taken control of operations they fired the president of Atmosphere Annealing."

"always a challenge to lower cost and increase production and do this while working with the help to gather imput. I liked my employees and they loved working for me."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"just be honest and be willing to do whats asked until you get off probation and give 100% and you will succeed"
What don't you like about working at Gerdau AmeriSteel?
"The hours and time commitment was extensive and family for me took second place. I'm a dedicated employee who gets the job done but expectations for my position was extensive do to condensing management and taking on more responsibilites."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"they have made several corrections and allow team leaders to make the choices in daily operation and manangement gets involved now only when the equipment or facility goes down for more then 3 hours."

"Steel is a cyclic industry, tied to the 'parent' manufacturing activities. Macsteel is very tied to automotive, for example. When the auto industry tanks, so does the steel industry."

"Get rid of the old Macsteel upper management, get with the new program."
