George Mason University careers offer individuals in these fields the opportunity to grow professionally and advance in their career path. Working at a university can be a demanding job, especially while students are in session. The George Mason culture fosters a sense of cooperation between various departments and schools. A recent emphasis on cross-training has allowed GMU to offer better student services while also giving growth opportunities to the individuals who are employed there. As an established university, George Mason will likely continue to grow at a steady rate and will continue to offer opportunities for individuals who wish to work as faculty or classified staff.

The GMU benefits package mirrors packages offered to all employees of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Full-time employees are offered a shared cost health insurance package and a no cost life insurance plan. Faculty, full-time staff, and eligible part-time staff can participate in a retirement plan, with the university making some contribution to each plan depending on the hire date of the employee.
