Buyer

"I started working for Genie Industries in 2011 as a Domestic Parts Sales Rep. I spent 6 months in that department and the it was a great experience, the management team was very professional and personable. They made you feel like you were family. I transitioned into another department after 6 months, the International Parts Sales Department was my home for 2 1/2 years, although very small that team was very efficient and knowledgeable. The team lead was essentially our supervisor as the manager had no working knowledge of international business. At times it could be frustrating because you were unable to receive support from management when you needed it, but at the end of the day the job was extremely rewarding and I treasured working within that department. After 2 1/2 years I made another move within the company, I accepted a position within the materials department and my primary role was - buyer. I was only with that department for 4 months before I was let go. I felt I didn't fit the "mold" for that department and quite honestly I felt the new manager (hired 3 weeks after me) did not accept me into his group. Without sounding bitter, I was pushed out on a technicality that wasn't enforced with anyone else but me. I would not recommend anyone joining the materials team with Genie Industries unless you are over the age of 40, you have been warned. All in all, Genie Industries was a great company to work for and they provide excellent benefits. The overall management team throughout the company encourage each team member regardless of your rank/title and that for me is what separates this company from some of the other major companies out there."
