In addition to its core lift and platform products, the company manufactures articulated booms, man lifts, light towers, scissor lifts, stick booms and telehandlers. Based in Redmond, Washington, Genie Industries is part of Terex Corporation's aerial work platforms division.

With a sales volume reported at $273 million, Genie Industries maintains offices around the world, including operations in the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, France and China. The company was created by Bud Bushnell in 1966 when he purchased the rights to a compressed-air material lift. In 2002 Genie was sold to Terex Corporation, based in Westport, Connecticut. Terex posted net sales in 2011 of $6.5 billion.
