Front desk clerks are often the first point of contact for those entering lodging establishments such as hotel, motels or lodges. They typically sign in guests, take payment if that hasn't already been done online, issue keys and explain establishment policy and amenities to guests.
Skillset: People who work as a front desk clerk need to be well groomed and personable to represent their employer in a positive light. Computer and telephone skills are also necessary.
Education: A high school or GED is normally required of those applying for employment as a front desk clerk. Applicants can elevate their chances of getting hired for entry level front desk clerk positions if they have successfully completed a vocational clerical training program.
