"I was trusted with the responsibility of making judgement calls by appying company policy, procedures and applicable contracts. I had the backing of my superiors, and would be allowed to explain my reasoning if it was not obvious. If I did make mistakes, I was not punished but trained and allowed to resolve the issue."

"Enthusiasm! Be eager to work and be commited to the position. Promise focus and true caring about results."
What don't you like about working at Fred Meyer?
"Sometimes policy would not allow me to do what my internal customers requested. This was especialy difficult if the request came form someone who had authority at a location and was not used to being told no!"

"Equip employees with the tools and authority to do their job. Trust them to make good decisions until they give you a reason to not trust them. Support and respect your employees, and earn their respect by following your own policies and setting the ideal example."
