Working at Forney Independent School District in Mesquite, TX: 1 Employee Reviews

Teacher

"Not a pleasing experience. The district has problems staying current with effective practices."

What do you like about working at Forney Independent School District?

"I enjoyed meeting other teachers with similar teaching philosophies."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"I know I sound negative, but even though it's a very small district with growing pains, trust no-one. Stay as absolutely professional as you can in all aspects of being in the district. Stay out of the teacher's lounge! ! !"

What don't you like about working at Forney Independent School District?

"Forney could not keep up with the needs of the children (and teachers) moving to that fast growing area. Things were thrown at us without much explanation or direction - then if we didn't use them due to lack of understanding or resources, we were made to feel inadequate by our principal (at least at my campus). My principal was no help when it came to asking for assistance in any realm of the classroom. She was quick to judge and slow to get accurate info on situations with teachers. This all lead to the most disappointing, helpless experience I ever had teaching."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I sent a very lengthy letter to Forney ISD admin about my experiences on my campus and with my principal. I was not the only one having these problems with curriculum and my principal, but no-one cared. That principal needed assistance with her own management style, but instead she was moved to open another campus - making it seem as if she were very capable and effective as a leader. I think that was a dangerous move and it may come back to bite the district later on."
