What do you like about working at Farmers?
"There was nothing good about my experience working at FIG. 1st, the politics: talk about back stabbing. It was absolutely unprofessional to say the least how executive management treated management and how management treated line and staff personnel. And the politics was just the beginning: FIG goes out of its way to promote minorities who not only have no experience but also no common sense as it pertains to the functional, managerial, operational and technical aspects of running a financial services / insurance company. Ironically, FIG does their best to put down, even ignore, qualified men and women who not only understand the insurance business nationally, but know how to construct and deploy an enterprise globally."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Do not invest yourself or your career in this company unless, of course, you adhere to the philosophy, do as little as possible, get paid as much as possible."
What don't you like about working at Farmers?
"1. The politics. 2. The corruption. 3. The fear of retribution for speaking up. 4. Retribution, that does happen when you do speak up. 5. The lack of professionalism as well as business common sense. 6. Racism (primary against white people). 7. Product Line (not responding to evolving needs of the customer). 8. In fighting (between ZNA and FIG in the U.S. as well as Zurich Europe versus Zurich North America). 9. Inability for the enterprise to work together as an enterprise (Europe vs. U.S.). 10. Inability of the enterprise to create, embrace and maintain realistic operational policies, procedures and standards. 11. The work environment (dirty, out of date, smelly...simply the worse work environment that I have ever been in, Schaumburg is worse, but I've never worked in that building). 12. The people... how does a Yoga Instructor with no experience in IT become a Network Security Manager (Answer: She slept around with several people, that's how). 13. The women... how does a FCU Clerk become a Project Manager (See answer to 12 above). The whole place is out of control, and management likes it that way."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I made suggestions before, and no one wanted to implement them, because the culture is this: do as little as possible, get paid as much as possible."
