"The work was interesting and the people were fun to work with most of the time. I liked the health plan, free gym and free food."

"This is not a Job for everyone, basically camping 24/7 and long work hours. Much Easier for single adults as the time away from home and the culture change can be difficult for some. Try to find someone that has been out there before make sure you a comfortable with the life."

What don't you like about working at Exelis?

"This was a stressful environment for many and that sometimes flowed into the work areas. Managment can be spotty at best and you have to manage on your own quite often. The medical insurance was terrible, expensive and I wouldn't use it again."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Your people are your greatest asset, they should be treated as such. It is a stressful environment and a little appreciation goes a long way in promoting employee health."

"I enjoyed working with my fellow coworkers. Everyone was easy to work with and willing to help."

"Upper management did not know much about the product and lacked knowledge."

"Gain knowledge in product and requirements gathered for final product. Understand the schedule and analyze risk."

"If you take care of your employees, they will work harder and will produce the best product for the company."

"I really enjoyed working the JCREW 3.3 program and mentoring the younger engineers and working with the older engineers to get the task done."

"Be honest on your resume. Make sure that you know how to do the job that you are applying for, and that you have the abilites that you say you have on your resume."

"The fact that we are in a war zone, and everyone is always a little on edge due to the possibility of incoming attacks"

"Management should take into consideration that each person on the team has a distinctive personality, and their own ideas and perception of the job may be different than What the Book Says. They should understand that as long as the job gets done, that everyone gets along, and that the customer is happy, there is no reason to create Corporate Rules that just create reasons for people to feel like the company does not trust them."

"The people I worked with were great but upper management did not care about anyone."

"As a remote location, we are often either overlooked or looked over, with little middle ground."

"It is becoming a profit only company. The cuts in benefits is alarming."

"Invest on IRAD. It has become apparent that the years of minimal investment in new products is affecting the future outlook of ITT Exelis."

"We track unmanned spacecraft which is basically anything beyond the moon. What we do is part of history."

"Do your research on what we do at Goldstone because we do amazing things with amazing people. Our mission in exploring Deep Space is simply an amazing feat and I can proudly say that I've been a part of history."

"Location- I really want to live in the Los Angeles area."

"It would be great if communcation from the top down was more effective."

"Not really. Just go out and take a close look of the place."

"Good corporate culture. Great people and the best part was that it was important work to help protect America's armed forces overseas."

"Perhaps they lack proper ways to recognize the talent and the efforts of some of the employes."

"The opportunity to help people, learn new technologies and work with people who felt similarly"

"Be yourself, be inquisitive, have motivation to learn about the products and services they offer."

What don't you like about working at Exelis?

"Too much time away from home. The job was to support the products in the Middle East."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Nothing really. They did what they could, when they could, to support our needs. We were the focus of all of their efforts. If this job could be compared to an aircrew, we were the pilots and they were the ground crew, doing everything they could to ensure we could complete the mission."

"Good compensation and the opportunity to study and get more certifications"

"Know that you are there only for the money and personal relationships don't happen. There is no one to take care of you there, only you to take care of yourself. The company will not take care of you."

"Lack of structure, not orintation as to what was expected on the job."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Better orintation, and better supervision. take care of personell by giving them an orintation as to what is expected from them and what the peopel are responsible for."

"I liked the overall corporate culture and my coworkers quite a bit."

"Be yourself, be honest, know something about something (please!). All IT experience is good."

What don't you like about working at Exelis?

"As the contract matured there were fewer and fewer opportunities to do and learn new things, and the job itself eventually became very repetitive, tedious, boring, and gave no opportunity to use imagination or creative thinking (which I really need)."

"A less surly, combative, and authoritarian approach would probably retain good employees better."
