"Excelsior is more like high school than a professional working environment. Happy hour is more important than job performance."
What do you like about working at Excelsior College?
"The work was alright. Never too challenging but training was sometimes offered to increase my knowledge anyway. The work environment was comfortable and laid back enough without being TOO laid back. The office setting was pretty ideal."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"They care more about your personality than your work performance. Be friends with the people and it can carry you farther than being professional."
What don't you like about working at Excelsior College?
"I always went above and beyond my job performance but was still scrutinized and looked down on because I did not attend all of the after hours happy hours. I went out of my way to make friends with the people I worked with (to fit in with the work culture) but the management for the most part was too juvenile to keep work and personal lives separate. There was also little to no room for improvement in the company."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Do your job. All members of a team have to get along on a professional level but long term, long lasting friendships should not be a requirement. Keep your personal issues at home and come in to do work."
