"I like writing code, determining the best way to accomplish a series of tasks. I like the cooperation between coders who are working on different aspects of the same system. I enjoy writing specifications (don't laugh, I do!). I like the hours. I like the fact that I can do my job from any location that supports a high speed internet connection to my workplace."

Engineer at Engineered Materials Solutions
in S Attleboro, MA

What do you like about working at Engineered Materials Solutions?

"Working with customers, leaving for home and shut downs. Some people are good. But managements cronies are snakes"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't take this job. They will close this company soon. It give me pains and headaches to work here."

What don't you like about working at Engineered Materials Solutions?

"The managers are not educated they do not know how to run a company and they could care less about customer needs. They do not care about retention. They treat engineers like the bottom of the barrel. They do not care about people. $25 bonuses are a joke and are insulting. The floor hear information before the office. The company puts all its time and effort into moving the products to china."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Get aware of what is going on. Give the people that care ye credit."

Engineer at Altec Industries
in Glendale, KY

What do you like about working at Altec Industries?

"Coworkers other than management are great. Health insurance is good."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you like being paid less and working more then you will like working for Altec. It is very easy for a college grad with little to no work experience to get hired."

What don't you like about working at Altec Industries?

"Raises do not keep up with inflation. Vacation policy. Night shift and weekend rotation. Management expects more work with little pay."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Listen to your employees. Hire management that actually knows what is is doing."

Engineer at Intel
in Chandler, AZ

What do you like about working at Intel?

"It was mildly interesting, testing preproduction chips for problems before customers see them. And many tech minded people."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Seems this place will hire people and see if they can survive the abuse the first year. I'd just rent an apartment so you don't get stuck unloading a condo if you do get canned."

What don't you like about working at Intel?

"Even though I had this job to do it seemed that other departments didn't really want to know that I found problems with the chips they designed. Also the fact that my job title (grade 8) was a company secret made it hard to identify my peers and compare my work against theirs. A college who I thought outranked me turned out to be one grade below me. Also the churn of my bosses didn't help. Once my hiring manager was gone, nobody had any investment in my success."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Make it more clear who my peers actually are, and get rid of the sillyness of secret job titles. And keep the hiring manager paired with teh new hire longer than 3 months."
