"You will always be at the bleeding edge of Storage Technology. It's a very competitive industry, where advancements from a competitor spark a massive response from everyone else in the field. EMC does pay well once you reach the higher engineering tiers. Entry Level and Tech Support engineers make market rate."

"Don't harp on and on about your advanced degree. EMC values experience in the field. In this current job market, there are a lot of Ph.Ds with no J-O-B."
What don't you like about working at EMC?
"The long hours will grind down the unprepared or the unwilling. At the senior engineer level, you will be expected to design and implement the solution while acting as de facto manager for your Implementation Team. Expect 60+ hour work weeks."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Retain talent! Don't be so demanding of your best technical staff. We've lost too many good Project Managers and Engineers to NetApp and HitachI because of the pressure. Let's be a bit more flexible when it comes to balancing Life and Work."
