What do you like about working at IBM?

"First job. Great opportunity. Could not judge first time out. It was the beginning of outsourcing."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"I can't say. I worked on the Blue Cross account from late 1994 through 1997. A lot has changed."

What don't you like about working at IBM?

"Contract disagreements with the customer disrupted work, and caused transfer to Lucent."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"None. I'm not qualified. This was an outsourcing endeavor at a higher level. I was just a technician."

"Exposure to government and its inner workings. Very eye opening."

"Stay in the private sector. Working for the city is not what you think it will be."

What don't you like about working at City and County of San Francisco?

"Bad leadership. No accountability. Little desire to improve. There is no thought given to mentoring others."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Clarity of vision. Openness. Be frank with your employees. Think of the bigger picture and stop trying to preserve your little fiefdoms."

"Improve the total compensation package of supporting staff and give more opportunities to deserving supporting staff to take on professional staff appointments."
