"I've been employed with ESPC for a few years now. It's a pretty good nursing job depending on what floor you work on. Management is mediocre overall. It seems that the new DON is trying to make some positive changes to the facility though. I really like her. Current issues are staff retention, short staffing, RN's expected to do "total care" on top of their already heavy load of nursing care on a pretty much daily basis (yes I mean bathing, changing, etc), and misleading new employees into thinking they are getting into an 1199 Union job when in fact there isn't even a contract yet. I have been there a few years and have yet to receive any type of raise (not a penny!) and there has been no contract closed yet. In my letter of employment it clearly says that this is an 1199 Union position. I do love the children and that is what makes the job worth it and is why I am still there. I love this population and hope that we close a good contract so that it gives incentive for people to stay. Despite the issues (there are issues everywhere you go)... if you are a new nurse and want some pediatrics experience, or are a veteran nurse that has "been there done that"... this is a pretty good place to work overall."
