"EdisonLearning is a company with a great mission, a lot of innovative ideas, and some great folks working for them. Unfortunately, they have been hampered by poor and inconsistent leadership at the most senior levels, notably bad business development, and an inability to attract and retain top talent."

"For nearly a year, I worked 7 days a week producing quality work only to be placed on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIPs are commonly used to fire good employees). After successfully completing the PIP, my manager and the crooked HR manager played a vicious cat and mouse game with me for another week and then fired me anyway. A month later they put me back on the payroll--I thought to keep me from suing them. I just received a registered letter demanding repayment within 10 days or they will sue me."

What do you like about working at EdisonLearning?

"I have an incredibly supportive team. While we are not all at the same site, the communication is much appreciated. I think their new MJBA model is going to impress a lot of people- EdisonLearning is at the cutting edge of alternative education models."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"You have got to believe that every student can succeed and that success is different for everyone. Also, you have to be fairly knowledgable of technology."

What don't you like about working at EdisonLearning?

"The program is still new, so it's definitely a roll with the punches environment, which I personally have no issue with."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"This model is just rolling out and a lot of things are being adapted. I am excited to see what is in store for the future and I hope that they continue to support their sites in the same manner that they do now."

"The students and teachers."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"It is difficult to balance teaching at an Edison Learning school and have a personal life. Most teachers find out that their families suffer because of the hours you spend at school and the amount of work you take home. Think carefully before you teach at an Edison School. They expect results, and when a teacher does not provide those they are out of the door. I have seen it happen to many teachers. It is an unfortunate blow to their career because in many cases the teacher did not receive the proper support."

What don't you like about working at EdisonLearning?

"Edison Learning does not respect teachers as they are respected in other districts. Job security is not reliable and the administration is not supportive. The administration does not relay what you do correctly, they only point out what you need to do to improve. As teachers we want to improve, but we want to feel we are working together. We don't want to feel you need to improve or lose your job."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Communication! They observe and observe, but never communicate."

"I liked the school that I worked at and the school staff but that was with the County as Edison is an outsource school management company."

"I didn't like that the management staff didn't support their employees and keep their promises."

"Great people. Good mission in attempting to provide a quality education to all children."

"Senior management turnover - 3 CEO's in 3 years."

"The people and the kids. I loved how they were trying to integrate technology into the classrooms."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Make sure you are prepared! The job is excellent and you will learn a lot, but be prepared for lots of DRAMA!! Ask questions about turnover, thats usually your first clue to how satisfying the job is for their employees."

What don't you like about working at EdisonLearning?

"The management. They don't communicate well. Too many cooks in the kitchen. One department never seemed to know or understand what the other was doing. I got a LOT of mixed messages."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"You all need to get into one room and TALK!!!! Half the staff said to do one thing, the other half questioned why that was being done... do this instead. COMMUNICATION is the key to success!!!!"
