Working at Data Recognition Corporation in Maple Grove, MN: 2 Employee Reviews

Data Recognition Corporation Employee

"They have recently had some financial setback and have been letting people go, some of them very long term employees. They do not appear to be getting rid of any high end/high paid management personnel though. Other than that, a good company with moderately good benefits."

What do you like about working at Data Recognition Corporation?

"I loved the people I worked with, both technical and end users."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"The company is ran like a dictatorship. In the last 8 months, the IT department (which consisted of about 23 people) has lost 4 top people and I know of 3 more people there who are actively looking for work. One of them told me the other day that he and his wife have agreed that he is going to have to quit if he doesn't find something shortly because he has no time for a family life outside of work."

What don't you like about working at Data Recognition Corporation?

"CIO was a disaster. He'd say do this one day and after it was done he'd say it wasn't what he wanted and we had to do something differently. We were all severely overworked, yet none of us got raises like we deserved. I ended up quitting because I was promoted, and although I acquired more work and had a lot of visibility with management, I never received a raise. I waited almost 2 years for a raise and was finally told that the president would never give one. That was what made me quit."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The president of the company runs DRC like a dictatorship. She insists on approving every proposed raise that comes across her desk and usually denies it if she does not personally know the person in question. There is what we called a good ol' boy's club in the company, and all of the members have risen quickly to upper-management levels. We found that if you are not a part of that club or in with some of the men who are in it, you're never going to get anywhere."
