2.3It was amazing working at Dogstar, purely because I had a team of co-workers that were more like family than peers. But that being said, everyone there was either fired or quit in a span of 2 weeks. The majority of these people were qualified, doing an amazing job, and sick of being paid minimum wage. They will never give you a raise. A recent employee at Dogstar had been working there for seven years and never received a raise, the only pay increase was when minimum wage increased. If you ask for a raise you will most likely get fired. In fact if you ask for anything, such as accurate holiday pay, better and more cleaning supplies, even more instruction and direction in your job, you will be fired. All the managers I have had at Dogstar have been amazing, they really want to hear your concerns. But if any word of your concerns or complaints get back to the owners they themselves will fire you. The owners are terrible, they have no idea how to run a Dog Daycare of any sort. It amazes me that they together own multiple businesses because they are so out of touch. If you are thinking about working at Dogstar Daycare, first let me say DONT! But second, if you do partake, don't ever complain, don't look the owners in the eye, never have a dog fight and sell, sell, sell, otherwise you WILL be fired. Good luck to you, you poor soul.
3.6I am an attendant at Dogstar in the NW Pearl area, and on the positive note I do love my job. My co-workers are amazing, and trust worthy, we are also all friends and it is not uncommon for us to have nights out together and hang out. At the moment there is talk of changing our schedules around to where we would be in the the play yard for 6 and 1/2 hours which if you haven't worked at a Dog Daycare before, believe me that is insane. We have new management which is so far Okay, but the owners do not seem to care about their employees. I have been working there for a while and I doubt they even know my name even though they are there at least 3-4 times a week. Plus its a small staff so its not hard to get to know who works for you. When I started I asked for at least 35 hours a week, at first I was getting that for the most part. Now for some reason I am only getting 20, 25 if I am lucky. Multiple people have quit so there should be more hours available but it is not even spread among the employees which is frustrating. But if you love dogs, and cleaning (LOTS OF CLEANING!) then give this place a try. The best thing about working here is interacting with some amazing dogs, and my current co-workers.
