"The team I am on is an exception to the rule. My co-workers are pretty good and gel well together.That said, the company as a whole is pretty pathetic. There is no harmony across IT silos and, in fact, there is some open warfare. It's no exaggeration when I say it is the most dysfunctional institution I have ever worked for. Bar none."

Biggest concern is not selling insurance, they know that 1/3 of all policies cancel within 60 days, their concern is selling ancillary products, which is the most profitable area of their business. Local management extremely weak. This was a terrible experience."

"It's a job and it pays the bills. Well, let me rephrase, it pays the bills if you have few bills."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Having a degree is pointless, as they'll hire most anyone based on other agents I've associated with. Tell them you're willing to work with non standard customers who will cancel repeatedly and work for little pay. Because ultimately, that's what it will amount to if you're hired."

What don't you like about working at Direct Auto Insurance?

"Non-standard insurance. Your typical client will not maintain their coverage for long at all so whatever commissions you make will be short lived. Management has no direction and little clue as to what the agents deal with daily. The claims department is horrific and how they've avoided a lawsuit to put them out of business forever is amazing. The claims office's lack of doing anything right will come back to haunt you as an agent. Your reputation will be tarnished as you can do nothing about their unwillingness to pay alot of claims fairly or in a timely fashion. As an agent, there's nothing you can do about it either."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Revamp the place, hire educated and professional people at all levels or close the doors. No one likes working for a company with no vision and with no direction or career growth opportunities. Direct offers none."
