Working at Digital Insight in Redwood City, CA: 1 Employee Reviews

Digital Insight Employee

"The new Redwood City office is beautiful. The NCR (parent company) CEO, Bill Nuti, is an awesome speaker, who will make you starry-eyed and proud to be a member of the NCR family. However, Digital Insight (Redwood City) is driven with bullying and intimidation. Management makes lofty promises to customers without listening to the engineers on the ground and seeing the bigger picture. Engineers are put in "lead" positions with no decision-making power, whatsoever, while being expected to take full responsibility for bad results from bad decisions they didn't make. Engineers are made to be scapegoats, but get no recognition for jobs well-done, in the face of exceptional adversity. Management accountability is non-existent. Animosity between teams/leaders, and even within the same team, is the norm. The few employees we have with good work ethics are looked down upon, and are vastly outnumbered by those looking to make vertical career moves, who will manipulate and step on anyone who gets in their way. We've been losing at least one [good] person per month, and I don't expect the trend to change any time soon. Backfilling positions with fresh idealistic and innovative minds is proving to be a difficult task, given the fact that our entire technology stack is composed of retired/end-of-life products, with no talk of revamping any part of the product lines, except maybe mobile. Here, "innovation" means rearranging and reorganizing what we currently have, instead of developing new ideas and concepts using modern technology. Engineering work has to be done in the few hours a day you have in-between meetings, and on your own time, after hours, in order to make deadlines."
