"Coding is ridiculously fun, even when things go wrong, or there's an emergency. Making stuff work is just one of those things that makes me happy with what I do, especially when it is fixing other people's problems. The downside is that you're often pulled in hundreds of directions at once, but it just comes with the territory."

"Love: Problem solving, writing elegant and optimal code, taking pride in end result. Hate: Constant learning on own time to keep up with technology (when does life after work begin?), haggling over estimates with managers, having to solve problems each day of your life (some days I prefer paper-pushing jobs), frustration with lack of features or capabilities in technology or tools."

"The challenge of the work is good and I really like some of my co-workers, but the super-duper choking bureaucracy at Cisco, the absence of raises and the regular layoffs have motivated me to search for somewhere else, which I have already begun."

"I loved being a developer. I feel it is interesting with extreme programming opportunity to address the issues that come across at my work place. What I hate is not having a common language, assigned with repetitive tasks, too much process, code maintenance, convincing others or clients and more."

"I love being able to watch my own professional skill and demeanor parallel the growth that I see by helping a client scope and execute a plan of action to meet solution requirements. The Developer Advocate position was challenging as I was not always working with someone who had much technical expertise. The ability to convey technical aspects to a developer or probe and guide a prospective client to find a suitable solution utilizing the companies products, I find, is truly invigorating."

"It seems there is an overabundance of WordPress, Drupal and Joomla users calling themselves web developers. But for the most part they don't actually have any programming skills, they're just plugging content into existing Content Management System templates. I enjoy being and working with skilled web development professionals, the sort who could CREATE a WordPress system from scratch if the client wanted one. We create lean, efficient and secure systems."
