"My Work has always been done with Pride and Hard Work all through the Years I have been complimented not only by Higher up Supervisors but also had visits by the Vice President of the company and was always given praise on how my hard work shows and that alone is a great feeling knowing you are appreciated on a job well done."

"I've worked for CSX for nine years. It was a good company to work for until the new CEO took over company. Cut a lot of jobs and closed down a lot of yards. No help from company on relocating to other yards to further their career."

"I have worked for CSX for 5 years now. The pros of the job have been largely around the opportunity for young developers to get their hands on the keyboard. If you want to code, you will have the opportunity to work on new projects here. The downside is the emphasis on business knowledge as opposed to technical ability. For many young developers, the business side is not always the most attractive aspect of the job."

"The pay scale for a CSX track inspector is agreed upon by the company and the union. Rate of pay is 32.50 per hour, overtime after 40 hours. $1 shift differential and a continuity bonus of up to $3000 yearly after the 3rd year. This is an excellent job. See the contract agreement at CRSF's web site for more details."

"Ok. So lets get this straight so many of you make CSX sound so good. Now the truth!!!! All of those people were management!!!!! There is a website called" Csxsucks", there is a reason. THAT is that management hates the union employees and treat us like stupid animals and we are just as smart as they are. Many in management have come out of the union ranks and as soon as they do they have to start acting like jerks to you when before they were decent people. CSX IS THE MOST UNPERSONABLE NON-FAMILY COMPANY YOU WILL EVER WORK FOR. I hate the way they treat us . If you are out of vacation and one of your children feels seriously ill in the hospital and you missed work after 2 days you would be written up and punished. NO TIME OFF FOR BEING SICK OR FOR A SERIOUS FAMILY ILLNESS. I know a man whose mother lay dying with cancer and roadmaster wouldn't let him off till a huge and I mean HUGE intervention came from elsewhere above the roadmaster. One of the first roadmasters I ever worked for will cut you down, make fun of you, call you all manner of things, even mock your religious beliefs and or religious positions in the church for which you attend and he is still working for CSX!!!! This company says they care about you but they don't. You are a means to an end. Production first, and safety and definitely family last. Everything is GPS, tablets, cell phones, trucks, even the credit cards. George Orwell's novel I believe was written about CSX. IT SUCKS. I even told my own brother I would never recommend he work for CSX."

"Everyone watches out for themselves. Take your development into your own hands. Pay is good but note the railroad operates 24/7 so work life balance is very poor. There is no "off-duty" for managers. Due to the industry focus on reportable operations and safety statistics front line managers are always on edge and in fear of losing their jobs. Unfortunately this results in a "hide-it-when-you-can" attitude and fosters an atmosphere of mistrust and defensiveness."
