CSX Transportation is a large U.S. railroad freight company and a subsidiary of the CSX Corporation. Formed on July 1, 1986 CSX headquarters are located in Jacksonville, Florida. The name CSX was chosen during merger talks between Chessie System Inc. and Seaboard System Railroad Inc.
CSX is divided into 10 divisions in 2 different regions: the northern region and the southern region. The southern region, based in Jacksonville, Florida also consists of five divisions: the Atlanta Division, the Huntington Division, the Nashville Division, the Florence Division and the Jacksonville Division.
