Coors Brewing
Overview
Coors Brewing Company has gone through several acquisitions since Adolph Coors opened his brewery in Golden, Colorado in 1873. Many companies folded due to Prohibition in 1916, but Coors manufactured malted milk, used in candy and confection, until Prohibition ended in 1933. Coors resumed production, and was available only in states west of the Mississippi River until 1981 when it sold nationwide.
In 2002, Molson Brewery in Canada merged with Coors to form the Molson Coors company, elevating it to the fifth largest brewer in the world. SABMiller and Molson Coors together created MillerCoors and gained second place to the largest beer company the United States. High quality beers from MillerCoors include Miller Lite, Coors Light, MGD 64, Coors Banquet, Miller Genuine Draft, Miller High Life, Keystone Light, and specially crafted brews from the Jacob Leinenkugel Company, Blitz-Weinhard Brewing, and Blue Moon Brewing Company. The Golden, Colorado brewery is the largest facility in the world for making beer.
