"Too many union issues. Management was often hog-tied whenever system challenges presented new job duties. VERY hard to effectively supervise when every decision is challenged by the union and second-guessed by upper management."

"If management would allow the workers to to there job without everseeing them with a fine tooth comb. Things will get done."

"The company is very big. This means that if you do not like your role, you can transition into another role that suits your talents. There are also a lot of programs that can help employees such as Corporate Mentoring programs."

"Con Edison was a company I had desire working for since I started my education in College. My department was in the IT department. I figured with my degree in computer engineering that I would be able to move up, but I got stuck. The hiring manager retired unexpectedly after 3 weeks and almost all of the work fell on me. I am always up for a challenge, but I was not set up for success. I had one resource and that was a co-worker who has been here for 27 years. I was determined to not give up. I traveled to locations, I participated in meetings, I did all I could. I was getting paid 74K a year for the work of my manager who was getting paid 98K a year. I want to be clear, I love challenges. However, I love teamwork better. I love to be able to assist each other and set each other up for success. I wasn't granted that wish. There was no room to grow because of BCO (Business Cost Optimization). I wish the Con Ed family was more like the Apple family."

"People are not on the same page, training the employees should be better."

"Management should be on the same page and works together."

"I have worked at Coned for 2+ years. I liked the diverse team, the location, the perks typical of big utility companies. Smaller companies offer broader experience and need to innovate more to remain competitive."
