Coder

"Demoralizing"

What do you like about working at The Coding Source?

"I enjoy the travel."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"They do not want to give time off for any reason. They have no paid vacation or sick time. Once they have you on the road they try and extend it for as long as possible so they don't have to purchase a plane ticket to fly you home."

What don't you like about working at The Coding Source?

"Managements attitude towards the employees is unacceptable. It seems they only know how to yell through e mail. There is no balance of work and home life. You have to choose which one you want."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"A manager should have compassion for the employees. Show some appreciation for people's sacrifice of being away from home and family. You have to give respect to get respect."

Medical Coder

What do you like about working at The Coding Source?

"I like the job opportunity"

What don't you like about working at The Coding Source?

"I go to doctors office, and scan medical documents"

Remote Coding Technician

What do you like about working at The Coding Source?

"I loved the position because of the variety of locations, the scheduling was done well in advance and offered an opportunity to travel to various cities in AZ. The actual scanning of the patients' charts required numerous judgment calls. Some coding techs completed the scanning by taking a minimum of records, yet completing many charts. I was concerned for the patients, if these are representative of complete medical records."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Just be honest, be patient because this isn't a horse race, show up on time, be friendly, courteous, don't cut corners and do your job. If you have children or pets to get home to, this may not be for you."

What don't you like about working at The Coding Source?

"If the medical offices were unprepared because they were given advance notice but failed to pull files, they occasionally acted stressed out or annoyed which may or may not have resulted in another office assignment. Some of the techs cut corners or seemed to act as if they were designated to have more authority than was actually the case. If working as a team, I felt that this was undiplomatic and represented the company poorly."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Hire mature people and specify all of the chart is necessary. If a coder is scanning too much of the chart than is necessary, specify that too. Since there are so many scheduling variables, I felt insulted that I might somehow misrepresent the mission. I felt that the first year's management was more on his game than the second, although this isn't brain surgery. I felt that management occasionally assumed or even took the word of key coding techs when they had a separate agenda. I always try to be even handed and found the office staff very accommodating."

Project Coordinator

"Has potential, but needs an overhaul..."

What do you like about working at The Coding Source?

"The work was challenging and exciting. Fast paced environment with constant change. This type of work environment keeps you on your toes. The staff/team mates are generally a pleasure to work with. All project coordinators believed in teamwork and went above and beyond in some cases to help each out."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"The company's focus is primarily on customer service and the ability to multi-task. The company also seeks individuals who are able to work under pressure, deadlines, and fast paced environments. The ideal candidate for this position must be prepared for the unexpected and able to handle constant change."

What don't you like about working at The Coding Source?

"They have no set business process in place to handle problems. There seems to be inadequate strategic planning. There is a micro-management style of Leadership. Most in leadership positions seem to have had no training in management. Turnover is extremely high and employee morale low. Also, there are no educational requirements or standards for the project coordinators. Some were under qualified, while others were over qualified. Some had Master degree education, others had high school diplomas and no college experience."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would suggest a transformational change. One that is focused on Human Development, loyalty and retention, and customer satisfaction. I suggest management training and workshops that promote transformational leadership. It is important for company leaders to understand their employees needs and concerns and to provide an environment that will allow for employees to be successful and that increases morale. Employees should not feel like at any moment their jobs are at stake. Happy employees equal happy clientele."
