Cigna, a health company located in Bloomfield, Connecticut, serves clients globally. The company utilizes each of its 30,000 employees in 29 countries around the world. The company also currently manages over $110 billion in assets. Since its inception, Cigna has managed to forge 66 million customer relationships around the world. The company provides health care services and products, including international insurance coverage, group disability, life insurance and accident insurance.

Cigna has a fairly strong presence in Phoenix, Arizona, where there are numerous satellite clinics around the metro area. As the company grows, their continued focus remains on helping people obtain better health through the company’s products and services.

In 1982, the company formed as a result of a merger between the Connecticut General Life Insurance Company and the Insurance Company of North America. The company soon became one of the largest international companies in the industry. The company leading status diminished after selling the international property and casualty business.

Cigna is committed to charitable contributions in the community. Specifically, Cigna promotes wellness and in 2008, the Cigna Foundation contributed $2,533,535 to assist with ventures that focused on this particular aspect of health. Cigna also gives its employees paid time off to volunteer in the community each year. Cigna strives to perform activities within the community to help individuals. The Cigna Christmas in July campaign, in conjunction with the Salvation Army of Greater Philadelphia, was launched in front of Cigna’s headquarters in Philadelphia.

In 2010, Cigna Korea established a program to provide dental services to people in Korea that did not have access to dental care.
